The “Journey during the lockdown” is a series I created in 2020, specifically during the first Lockdown.
Throughout the creation of this body of work, I was inspired by the Self-portrait of Rembrandt in 1669, mostly because of the philosophy behind his style of Chiaroscuro.
From that point, his self-portrait led me to create my own use of chiaroscuro, by dealing with the depth of charcoal and the rough texture from the acrylic to reflect my experience and emphasise my vulnerability and imperfections.
